A Mat Bailey strike earned Nantwich Town a credible 1-1 draw away to Ashton United in the Evo-Stik Premier League.
Bailey (pictured) put paid to any concerns the Dabbers would take it easy with one eye on next week’s massive FA Cup encounter at MK Dons.
But it was the home side who took the lead about five minutes before the break after a hotly disputed penalty decision was awarded by the referee.
Nantwich, who had the better chances in the first period, continued to press in the second half and were rewarded on the hour when Bailey powered home a header from Sean Cooke’s corner.
Ashton managed to hold out against Jimmy Quinn’s side who maintained their impressive form run to remain just five points off the play-offs in ninth.
