Fire crews are damping down after finally bringing a huge blaze at a scrap metal dealers in Nantwich under control. These pictures show the scale of the incident at Garratt’s Metals, which forced police to close all major roads around the site on Alvaston Business Park.

Plans have been submitted to develop the latest section of the Nantwich-Crewe Greenway project. Cheshire East Council wants to extend the initiative by developing the section from Wistaston Green Road to the A51 Nantwich Bypass.

Giant horses, giraffes and elephants are among ‘larger than life’ works of art which will welcome visitors to Reaseheath College’s zoo and maze in Nantwich this summer. The animals have been created by acclaimed chainsaw sculptor Andy Hancock, ready for the opening of the two attractions on Saturday July 16.

Creative Crewe and Nantwich students completed their college year on a high at an End of Year Show. Students from South Cheshire College’s Creative and Applied Arts faculty staged a Private View event which featured visual arts and media exhibitions, dance, drama, song and more.

Beauty therapy students have raised funds for the Air Ambulance Appeal in memory of a former student who died on the A51 near Nantwich. Hundreds of motor enthusiasts enjoyed the spring sunshine at a Classic and Vintage Vehicle display near Nantwich. The event was held at Bridgemere Nursery and Garden World, off the A51, on Saturday (April 16). It included a wide range of cars, motorbikes, military vehicles and tractors dating back to early last century.
New Middlewich Road crossing near Sainsbury’s store

Middlewich Road will be closed for a day to allow work on a new crossing close to the Sainsbury’s superstore. The crossing is being paid for by Sainsbury’s as a planning condition set by Cheshire East Council for its replacement store.
