A village near Nantwich has taken on the very first transfer of services from Cheshire East Council. A series of transfers are planned as part of Cheshire East’s local service project, and Audlem Parish Council is one of the first to officially take control of a village service, opening up a toilet block to the public.

Land off Broad Lane in Stapeley and Hack Green, near Nantwich, were both considered for possible permanent gypsy sites by Cheshire East Council, it has emerged. They were on a list of 11 sites seriously considered before the council settled on land off Parkers Road/Kent Lane, in Crewe.

A piece of land in Willaston, Nantwich, has been renamed Mike Heywood Green in memory of the late local community leader. Mike was chairman of Willaston Parish Council for 12 years and was active in the village, earning himself the nickname “Mr Willaston.”

New street signs are to be erected at a Willaston cul-de-sac after residents’ complained their bins were not being collected. The new signs will go up for The Fields, off Cheerbrook Road, Willaston, in the next few weeks, Cheshire East Council has confirmed. Registered childminders in Nantwich will get a chance to meet Cheshire East Council’s family information service later this month. During the session at Nantwich Children’s Centre (pictured), childminders can learn how to promote themselves by providing a list of their services, like school pick-ups in a certain geographical area.
