A school chef from Nantwich wowed the judges with her tasty meal on a budget to make it through to the regional final of School Chef of the Year. Sam Costa, who heads the kitchen at Pear Tree Primary in Stapeley, produced a tasty dish of rainbow rice and creamy coconut chicken.

Parents in Nantwich are being given a new voice from today with the launch of Ofsted’s Parent View online service. The new online questionnaire will allow parents to give their views on their child’s school at any time of the year. It covers more than 460 schools across Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Halton and Warrington.
Developers win appeal to build Wrenbury housing scheme

A housing scheme in Wrenbury, near Nantwich, has been given approval following an appeal. Arena Housing Association and MCI Developments had their plans to build 14 affordable two and three bedroom homes on 1.5 acres off New Road turned down by Cheshire East Council’s planning committee.

By Claire Faulkner A new play area in Wybunbury near Nantwich has been officially unveiled by the Mayor of Cheshire East Cllr Roger West. The recreation area has been developed on the playing fields in the village and was part funded by Cheshire East Council under the former Playbuilder Scheme.

Brine Leas School staff and students in Nantwich are celebrating a record set of GCSE results. 98% of pupils obtained five or more GCSEs at A* to C grades, a jump of four per cent compared to 2010.

Nantwich Library opening times are to change from June 1, Cheshire East Council has announced. The main changes include opening half an earlier each morning at 9am instead of 9.30am Monday to Saturday.

Parents in Nantwich could be fined for taking their children out of school to go on cheaper holidays in term time. That’s the warning from Cheshire East’s Education Welfare Service which is determined to crackdown on the large number of unauthorised absences in the town.
