Cheshire Police have been cracking down on truck drivers ignoring safety when using motorways and busy trunk roads. Officers stopped dozens of lorry drivers for not wearing seatbelts, using a mobile phone and eating or drinking at the wheel.

A 56-year-old woman isfighting for her life in Leighton Hospital following a house fire in South Cheshire today (Sept 26). Police were called to Underwood Lane, in Crewe, at 1.35am to reports of a woman trapped in a blaze at the property.

The force’s eForensics department includes the Hi-Tech Crime Unit, which helped to bring two men to justice in the county for using Facebook to incite violence during the recent wave of rioting.

Drivers from Nantwich heading to a major Cheshire music festival this weekend have been warned not to drink or take drugs and drive. A team of Cheshire Police officers trained in field impairment tests, will be carrying out spot checks on vehicles travelling to and from the Creamfields event.

The high profile case of Jordan Blackshaw and Perry Sutcliffe-Keenan has hit national headlines.
