Seventeen teams of four people competed in the annual Wistaston Memorial Hall Quiz for the Fred Lorimer trophy. The winning team was called “4 in the corner” with 44 points, consisting of Andrea Ollerhead, Juliet Gordon, Pete Jones and Christopher White.

A group of friends and relatives (pictured) took part in a walk around Nantwich to raise money for charity. The group, all from the Wistaston and Willaston areas, completed the Nantwich Riverside Loop walk to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Nantwich triumphs in North West in Bloom awards

Nantwich has scooped the gold medal in the North West in Bloom 2011 awards. It means Nantwich will go forward to compete in the national awards in the town category early next year.

Inquest set into death of Wistaston cyclist killed on A50

An inquest has been set into the death of a cyclist from Wistaston who died in a road accident on the busy A50. Retired estates manager David Allbutt, of Yew Tree Road, died after the collision on May 19 earlier this year.
Variety Concert set for Wistaston Memorial Hall

Wistaston Memorial Hall and Community Centre will be staging its annual Variety Concert next week. The event takes place on Thursday October 6 at the Memorial Hall on Church Lane, starting at 7.30pm. Entertainment will be provided by the Crewe West End Concert Band, under the conductor Albert Dunseath.

Nantwich students at South Cheshire College have been celebrating after achieving outstanding A-Level results. The college announced an overall A-Level pass rate of 99% – with a high number of students gaining A* grades in different subjects.
