Detectives are probing links between three burglaries on elderly people, including one in Wrenbury near Nantwich. One of the raids has left a 107-year-old householder seriously ill in hospital after she confronted the burglars.

A housing scheme in Wrenbury, near Nantwich, has been given approval following an appeal. Arena Housing Association and MCI Developments had their plans to build 14 affordable two and three bedroom homes on 1.5 acres off New Road turned down by Cheshire East Council’s planning committee.

A rail users’ group in Nantwich has issued a list of improvements it wants to see on the revised Arriva Trains Wales timetable. The group met in Nantwich on Friday to draw up improvements it will submit before the end of the timetable public consultation period.

A group of Nantwich residents want rail users in the town to help them suggest timetable changes to improve the service. The group, led by Mike Docker, is holding a meeting tomorrow (August 26) as it says changes made in May have left Nantwich commuters worse off at morning peak time after the 08.16 service from Crewe was removed.
